A question of character to which we must pay maximum attention.
«There are two types of personal development books: the ones you read and say “what a great book”; and the ones that allow you to experience so deeply the positive change in your life.»
Matt Furey
When we read a book we are faced with at least two maps: the one we live in and the one that comes to us through reading that book. But regardless of whether both are influenced by each other, the magic of transformation through reading happens when there is a meeting of maps. And an author must, as his main intention, make this possible for his readers.
A book can be good, but not transformative.
This quote from Matt Furey actually applies to all types of books. Writing a story isn’t just about having a plot that captivates the reader, but also about having a changing effect on the reader. You’ve probably read a book that was well written, but didn’t really speak to you.
People are quicker to remember a book that changed their life than a book that simply told a beautiful story. I agree that not all books have the spark of transformation, but if, as an author, you hope to touch the lives of your readers with your book, you will invariably have to think about this.
The massification of publishing
Nowadays we are witnessing an incalculable number of personal development books, especially with the massification of self-publishing. But is this enough?
In my opinion It is crucial that each book maintains its character and the character of its author.. They both have to represent the same thing, at least at the time the book is written and published. Naturally things evolve, but nothing is more disconcerting to me than meeting the author of a book and feeling that they both express different things.
Well then. Writing and publishing a book is a process that involves many others. It is not enough to write well and from the heart. It is necessary to align internal factors with external factors. To ensure that the message of one (author) is integrated and metamorphosed by many (readers). A successful book has to have character!
If you feel like you have a good story or a unique perspective on a topic, it might be time to take the next step. To “stitch together” and structure your knowledge so that it is available to others. Yes, Maybe It's Time to Write and Publish Your Book.
